The aim of hard power practitioners should always be to use tactics in ways that preserve relationships. However, this is not always possible. As a perfectionist (or "maximizer"), I sometimes shy away from exerting hard power influence techniques if I believe it will damage my relationships in any way. It's important to remember, however, that on balance it still may be the best possible action
